Summer Update

Summer TNF!

Three Prayer Requests:

Happy summer friends, I pray that the warmer weather & the season it brings has been refreshing and restful, and filled with friends & family. I am so grateful for the summertime and the changes it brings with it. Summer for campus ministry always tangibly marks the end of so many things- graduation, classes are over, people go home for the summer, etc.. But summer also marks the exciting beginning of many things, summer is the time we can call new students to step up to the plate and lead the charge in taking the good news of Jesus to campus in the fall. Summer is always such an exciting and anticipatory time for me. Please pray for wisdom for our staff as we make corefa selections and talk with students about stepping into leadership. Pray that Mark 10:45 is the driver and motive in all of these conversations, pray our students and staff desire to give their lives away and serve so that others may find real life in Jesus. "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many"

I also wanted to share a passage that has been on my heart and mind as a second prayer request.
John 6:52-69: 52
Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. 60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” 61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit[a] and life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65 He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” 66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. 67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”
Would you join me in prayer that this passage would be woven deeply into the ministry we do on campus? The last several weeks I have been incredibly struck by and burdened by students leaving God to go find life apart from Him. Pray with me that they would have the courage to wrestle with Simon Peters piercing questions- to whom else shall we go? Only you have the words of eternal life. May they hear the call of Jesus and not turn back.

Finally I wanted to share another fundraising update! I am currently $104/month away from my goal. Please join me in prayer that God will connect me with more people who are excited about bringing His Kingdom to UTA. I am so thankful for you and your support, it truly means more than I have words to express that I have a team of people supporting me, praying for me, and rooting for God's Kingdom to come on college campuses. Your partnership is a rich gift.

Until next month,

Sophie
