March Update!
Lizzy and I! She is one of our seniors this year and is also my roommate :) |
Happy (almost) Spring!
I cannot believe another school year is almost coming to a close again. We just finished spring break over here at UTA which means theres only 6 weeks left of school, CRAZY! Thankful for a steady people like you who have continued to make God's mission at UTA possible. The lives of these college students are being changed. Students like Lizzy get to leave college a completely different person than when they entered college. We get the gift of sending Lizzy into the workforce as a nurse who will be Jesus' disciple wherever she goes. I have no doubt she will be a bold evangelist to her patients and coworkers and be an agent of healing spiritually, emotionally, and relationally in her workplace. She is a very different young woman than she was four years ago, she has different goals, motives and dreams that have all been shaped by Jesus. In her, the great commission has been accomplished, a disciple has been made. Thats how the world changes. This is why I do campus ministry. This is what you make possible!
UTA Updates:
I wanted to update you on some major changes headed our way next year that you can be in prayer for. We have a lot of changes coming to our staff out here in Arlington which will really shake up the stability we have had for the last five years.
The four of us (L:R- Bailey, Emily, Me, Sarah) have been our women's FOCUS staff at UTA for the last five years, and even looking back further Sarah and Emily were may campus pastors while I was in college. Both Emily and Sarah's time at UTA is coming to a close for different reasons. This is very emotionally charged for me. Both of these women have discipled me and walked along side me for my entire adulthood. While I do not worry about our relationships going anywhere, I am convinced we will be friends for life, there is a grief in not being on campus together anymore. UTA's campus is where our friendship was forged, it is filled to the brim with memories for me. Both of them have been huge stabilizing forces for my life and our ministry, be praying us and our ministries during this big transition.
This is Juli, she is going to be joining our staff at UTA in August as an apprentice! This is super special to me because Juli and I were student leaders together when we both were in college and have been best friends since the moment we met six years ago. It will be very special and stabilizing to get to have her on our team in such big transition. Pray for her transition from nursing into campus ministry!
This is Trinity on the left, who is one of our freshman students that I have gotten to study the bible with every week this year. Veronica is on the right, and Veronica will be joining our staff at UTA as soon as the spring semester ends! You may be thinking Trinity looks like she is in elementary school not college, you would be correct. This is an old picture of both of them, turns out Veronica was Trinity's small group leader in the third grade!! Now Veronica gets to be her campus pastor, which is so special. Be praying for Veronicas transition out to Arlington.
I don't have pictures for the other two, but we are also adding two other apprentices to our team in August- Josh and Leo! Josh is currently one of our masters students at UTA so I am thrilled to have more Alum on our team, and Leo is from UNT super excited to have him as well. Join me in prayer for their transitions.
Thank you again for your prayers and support, I am looking forward to sharing this new era of UTA with you as we go. Can't wait to see what God will do.
Until next month,
Sophie
